Maritime Disciplinary Court of the Netherlands

The Maritime Disciplinary Court of the Netherlands is the body responsible for disciplinary law regarding ships’ officers and captains. Established in 2010, the disciplinary court took over the disciplinary role of the Maritime Court of the Netherlands. The disciplinary court administers justice under Chapter 5A of the Seafarers Act. It handles complaints from parties such as crew members, shipowners, passengers and insurers. The disciplinary court judges whether the captain and ship's officers have acted properly towards those on board, the ship, the cargo, the environment and shipping traffic.
