| How much text can a translator translate in one day? |
|
On average, assuming a normal working day, a translator can translate and correct five pages A4 a day. This includes the extra check carried out by our quality assurance department. |

| What is meant by the term 'native speaker'? |
|
A native speaker is a person who primarily speaks his or her mother tongue. We work exclusively with native speaker translators, because no matter how well people learn a foreign language, they will always express themselves best in their own language. The translator's knowledge of the subject matter is at least as important. It will be clear that a legal translation calls for different professional knowledge than that required for a machine manual. |

| When do translations have to be certified? |
|
When translating official documents, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce papers, etc., it is desirable to have a translation certified in order to rule out the possibility of fraud. These days, this approach is regarded as a requirement rather than an option. The translator must be sworn in at court for this purpose. |

| Are translators being replaced by computers? |
|
Translation is a profession! A feeling for language, emotion and creativity play and important role in translation work. No one has yet succeeded in writing a computer program that is capable of doing this, and we are still a long way from this being achieved. Translators are however being supported more and more by computers. There are translation tools, for example, which make it unnecessary to translate repeating passages in texts more than once. But the translator still has to do the translation! |

| In which formats can you supply translations? |
|
f.a.x. Translations b.v. supplies translations in all standard text formats. In most cases, other formats are also available on request. |

| How do you treat confidential information? |
|
f.a.x. Translations b.v. makes sure that your information remains confidential. Confidential documents are collected by a specialised company and subsequently destroyed on completion of the order. |
